Is your literature and website full of the same dreary old images as every other B2B company? At first image libraries seem like such a good idea. Loads of photographs of business people brainstorming, mobile working, team building and never a five o clock shadow or a creased garment in sight. And so what if they all look like they are ‘out of Des Moines USA’?
Is your literature and website full of the same dreary old images as every other B2B company? At first image libraries seem like such a good idea. Loads of photographs of business people brainstorming, mobile working, team building and never a five o clock shadow or a creased garment in sight. And so what if they all look like they are ‘out of Des Moines USA’?
Your customers and prospects may not know that you have pulled an image off the web or even what a picture library is – unless, as increasingly happens, they see the same smiling faces on your competitor’s brochure or website – but most people do sense that there is something slightly ‘make do’ about what they are looking at. And that doesn’t help to give them confidence that yours is the kind of company that they should be dealing with.
In contrast good original photography, used properly can make a huge and positive difference to how your company is seen and helps to build credibility, give personality to the organisation and differentiate from competitors. Bespoke photography (commissioned photography) is always the best choice for design purposes. Bespoke photography means that you will have an experienced commercial photographer at your offices, in a photographic studio or on location taking shots exclusively for your company. This is the ideal photographic solution but it is one area where B2B marketing has tended to fall behind B2C.

“Ian your team have been amazing today. The pictures exceed anything I could have hoped for”
Axongarside recently completed a very successful photoshoot for our client MidlandHR. The objective was to portray MidlandHR as a forward thinking, approachable and professional HR and Talent Management partner for large public and private sector customers. An excellent location at Nottingham Trent University found for us by marketing manager Karen Bull and her team got us off to a good start and because the shoot was entirely bespoke we were able to set up a huge variety of shots to reflect our client’s specific online and offline marketing requirements. This gave us the opportunity of framing the images to include Midland's avatar 'I' also created by axongarside. Together with carefully selected use of coloured clothing for our models, these elements enabled the creation of a distinctive house style for Midland. The result perfectly complements MidlandHR’s white and cyan corporate identity. By the end of a hard day’s photography we had over 700 images showing that bespoke photography can be not only a better, but a more cost-effective solution too.
